Awesome Book! January 3, 2009 Elizabeth 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My son is 5 and LOVES pirates! This book is great and comes with everything that a little boy who loves pirates would love to read / hear about . . . I also love the reading comprehension questions that go along with it!
Arggh! Treasure Ahead! August 31, 2009 C. Gruver (TX USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My four-year-old son and six-year-old daughter are enjoying the Tag system. This and the Ben 10 book are their favorites. They seem to prefer these two because there are more pictures to click on for a funny sound or comment than most of the other books.
In this book, a family (father, mother, brother, and sister) are pirates (really!). They fight off a band of 'traditional' pirates and use a treasure map to find a treasure. It is intended to be funny and playful, with lots of pirate jokes and physical humor in the tale.
Neither of my children have really used the books for reading or for the phonics games that are in the back of most of these books (including this one). Therefore, the educational value is not direct. That being said, I think that any time young children have a positive experience with a book, it is a learning moment. Tag lets children have these moments with their parents, as well as on their own.
I wish I was a kid again December 27, 2009 F. Ranken (Fort Lauderdale, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great tag gift. Especially for pirate lovers. My son loves putting the tag pen on the little pirates and listening to them talk. Even the little crab says something. If you put the pen on the ocean you hear the waves crashing. Very creative and great learning too.
I wish I was a kid so I could of have one of these as a Christmas gift too...
Fun for your little pirate January 8, 2010 Jane Austin (Salt Lake City, Utah, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the Tag books because my 4 year old can enjoy reading a book even when I don't have the time to read to him. We always read aloud before bedtime, but there are times in the day when my son wants to read and I don't have the time. He can sit and listen to the story in this book and then participate in the activities at the end of the book. This one is a keeper.
A great book about Pirates! January 22, 2010 Lisa Hernandez (Chicago) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hesistated between this book and the Dinosaurs. Glad I went for Pirates! My son loves this book! He is always quoting this book! And it's not just for boys either- it's about twin brother and sister who find treasure. The games in the back are fun too. It's a great way to teach about pirates and learn about the boats and what happened on them. Plus, learning the lingo is always fun!
