Our occupational therapist used an older version of this toy to help our daugher, who has Down Syndrome, work on her fine motor skills. She is 13 months old and can pick up a pea with her thumb and index finger, so you be the judge of the success! We got her this newer version to work with at home and enjoy sitting with her, pulling and twisting the parts to hear all of the different sounds they make. She loves it, and it builds the strength in her hands that she needs while developing her pincer grip. The environmentally friendly plastic and packaging are an added bonus.
